Redefining Growth: From Post-growth to Regrowth
At the Post-growth Festival organized by Triodos Bank and Springtij, we reflected on the future of growth. While 'post-growth' often focuses on reducing consumption, 'regrowth' emphasizes creating inclusive value for people and the planet. Laurens Franssen, founder of u-inc, shared his insights on why regrowth is key to driving net positive impact for businesses.

The Post-growth Festival, hosted by Triodos Bank and Springtij, gathered an impressive group of like-minded professionals. Talks by experts like Hans Stegeman and Hans van den Broek, along with workshops from Wageningen University & Research, highlighted a key theme: traditional growth models are broken. Laurens Franssen, founder of u-inc, reflects: “We know that the old model of growth no longer works. But how do we inspire people and businesses to embrace a new direction?”

Laurens believes the answer lies in redefining growth. In nature, growth isn't always about "more"—it's about what's needed to strengthen the ecosystem. We call this 'regrowth'. “Post-growth often sounds limiting,” Laurens explains, “but regrowth is about opportunities. It’s about focusing on what we can do to add value to the world.”
